The Yeonpung Martyrs’ Shrine, located in Yeonpung-myeon, Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, is a historic site where many believers were martyred during the persecution of Catholics in the Joseon Dynasty. Yeonpung Martyrs’ Shrine offers a variety of attractions such as the Way of the Cross, five saint statues, Hyangcheong (old public office), the tomb of Saint Hwang Seok-du Luca, a gallows, the central altar, a cross (martyrdom site), and a monument dedicated to the martyrs. Particularly, the Saint Hwang Seok-du Luca Bicentennial Cathedral, built in 2013, boasts an exotic atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Also, a sculpture inspired by the works of Danwon Kim Hong-do<\/p>\n
With its wide grassy fields and benches, this place is also a great spot for relaxation and meditation in nature. It opens from 9 a.m., and cooking and drinking are prohibited within the premises.<\/p>\n
